All over Iceland, hikers going to different locations often stack rocks in small pillars. The end result can be an entire small area covered in these formations. Some places even explicitly banned this practice, and some consider the trend to be a bad one as they feel it ruins the landscape. Others think its just a nice and interesting area to arrive at, and makes for a neat kind of collaborative piece of art.
